OCZ Vertex 30gb (32gb) in Raid 0 - 120gb total (128gb)

System Specs:
Asus Striker Extreme 680i
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 - 3.80GHz OC Air cooling
Corsair PC2-6400 8GB DDR2 Dual Channel
Asus GTX280
Western Digital Green 1TB
OCZ 30gb SSD drives x 4 Raid 0 - 120GB Total (Actually they are 32GB)
Coolermaster HAF 932 Big Tower
Corsair 650Watt PSU

I'm not getting the full potential of the SSD drives cause of the onboard Raid controller, so i'm getting a new Raid Controller soon.
The highest transfer rate i could get was 580MB/s write, and my reading doesnt exceed 400MB/s. it should be theoretical : reading 920MB/s write 540MB/s.

  • sale your ssds and buy a force 3 120gb it costs you about 150 $ and is faster. 500/450 in most benchmarks

  • @ComputerInfoChannel I sold my SSD's a long time ago. I'm thinking to get a new one. Not until 300-500gb are cheaper. I got myself stuck at 120gb. Even with my current 250gb HDD i get myself stuck.

  • Putting these SSD's in RAID is worthless TBH. The OCZ Vertex does not support TRIM when you RAID them together, so after a while they will slow down and any mechanical HD would be faster, do your research before you try this people.

  • @peperonikiller I got these SSD's before TRIM came out. And i got rid of them a year ago.

  • @freemanmattia 16 gigs is just fine for me. i easily reach 10gigs when i'm working in maya and cinema 4d.

  • @RaisorX arent 16 gigs a bit too much? even 8 should be enough for graphics and video editing... ofc i don't know what is your pc purpose

  • @HDTanel

    U R FAIL

Check my vid, it's an E8400 on an IX38 Chipset w/ onboard RAID... He's wrong about needing a controller card, raid 0 has NO overhead and the card would massively extend boot time, and increase the build cost by a major factor.

  • @ribak1983 Neither, it's an Asus Striker Extreme 680i
