1 in 2.3 million. Those are the infinitesimal chances voter fraud will occur in a federal election. That's less likely than being struck by lightning or attacked by a swarm of bees. Right now, 33 states have proposed laws making it harder to vote. That means 23 million Americans will have a much more difficult time voting, and communities of color will by hit hardest by these new laws. Get the facts about voter suppression from our video, and text "VOTE" to 62227 to join the NAACP mobile list.

I don't believe in voter suppression, cheating, or lying to win elections. Only losers do that. And that is what the Republicans are all about.

We need to focus on both the voting machines AND the new voting laws being passed, since they both seem to be in Republican hands. I'm not African-American, and what I find kind of amusing is the idea that the GOP doesn't think their voting laws won't disenfranchise any whites as well. Not everyone was born in a hospital and got a birth certificate. Many in areas like rural West Virginia, I imagine, did fine without one until now. Meanwhile, I'm busy trying to get people registered.

I have no problem with having politicans to take a drug test. In most states getting a state id is free if your poor or elderly.

well i think the state that requires voter id should be forced to pay for any id for any citizen. If you want to make workers get drug tested i think all elected officials and their staffs should drop as well, even those all the judges you name it. Its a damn shame that the unemployed or under employed must suffer the condescending treatment to get assistance, especially when we are spending 12 billion a month on war or aid to other countries,.

how old r you 13? lets say your name is larry smith, and there is a larry smith that is a convicted felon, they can challenge your vote and give you a provisional ballot. the ballot is dumped in the trash. Larry smith is a very common name this Patty Kuhner, this is how the game is played, you dont have to worry unless there are thousands of Kuhners in your small town it really adds up in cities with millions. It does not work as easy in towns of less than 50k. u try to prove u r not that felon

There's also the fact that about 7% of US citizens lack the documents necessary to get an ID, which is a time-consuming process to replace that costs even more money, if it's even possible (it's not always). And let's not ignore the added cost and difficulty for disabled citizens to get around to get these things.

Voter impersonation is not a problem, certainly not one that warrants laws which disenfranchise millions of citizens.

Really? Did I even imply race as a problem? Voting is a right and responsibility of citizenship (for both rich and starving street people; students, elderly with lost wedding certificates from flooded homes and others in various challenging circumstances) -unlike these so-called needs you list.

I sense you would rather only upstanding, responsible, lucky people like you (who wouldn't blink at scrounging another $20 to replace papers that got lost in an eviction?) deserved a guaranteed vote.

I am from NM and I have a voter ID card but was never asked for it when I went to the booths. If I remember correctly it was "free" but the state dishes out taxes for an ID when we don't even show it!!!? Not to mention it did not have a picture on it, so it could still be fraud. Why wont just a picture ID work, which I remember being asked for when I first voted. Another issue with the ID is also people not being able to get their ID due to lack of transportation.
