Is it worth making huge planes with electric motors? I understand small planes - there's an obvious advantage in electrics over nitro... but I can't find any advantages when powering large planes using electric motors...
The cost of the motor, speed control and batteries overtakes a decent gas engine (plus hours of fuel) and flight time shrinks from ~15 to ~5 minutes.
Given that you *have* done it, what do you find advantageous about it?

The motor was $49.95 I had the ESC and Batts.I fly it for 7 min. and i used up 2000mha in a 3700mha pac. It now has more then 2 times the power and the plane is 3 pounds lighter now!!!! You will never get the power out of gas that you can get out of a brushless motor.
