The Canon 7D, launched in 2009, sits firmly between the Canon 50D and the Canon 5D Mark II, between the pro and amateur range, but which one should you go for? At first, the 7D would seem to have more in common with the 50D, but pro features are also in abundance. We take a look at the 7D's key features, including new features and improvements, to help you decide.

I have 7D upgraded from 50D and yes AF is better , more other thinks , better image on high iso, but there is compromis made by canon beetwen 50D and 7D so like i said 7D has less noise on high iso but 50D has less noise on low iso if u watch the picture on 1:1 u will see that 7D show some noise even on 100 iso , the picture looks little bit grainy . I was compering this 2 cameras and 7D noise at 100 is like 50D at 300 or even 400 ;(

@garythegit
This is true. Smaller sensor just crops the frame. The picture produced from a 7d with a 50mm is the same as that of a 5d with a 50mm just cropped down. Hence crop factor.
As DoF is a function of maximum aperture and focal length to get the same rough framing of a picture on a 7D as a 5D you need a wider lens and therefore as it's wider it will show less DoF.

a smaller sensor doesn't produce a greater dof, it just makes lenses like the 50 more like a 80. dof on the 5d mkii is a lot more significant. great review though! i was really confused as to the purpose of the 7D at first :)
