Owl panoramic head doing a gigapixel shot. http://flic.kr/p/9dq9Qe
Easy to set up with the Papywizard software. Sorry for the video quality I guess I blew that out :-)

I have a challenge for you Arduino programmers. The first person who comes up with a good program for an Arduino to control this unit will get one set of the mechanics in exchange for the program. The program must be capable of:
1/ Following a sequence of moves to complete a 360/180 image with various lenses these may be calculated in the controller or preprogrammed.
2/ Must be able to select the number of shots at each position for bracketing.
3/ Capable of shooting a gigapixel image by moving to the two opposing diagonal corners to define the coverage and then calculating the sequence based on the lens focal length and overlap desired.
4/ Implement Big Easy stepper motor drivers and Opto-isolators for the shutter

Bonus for 3rd stepper motor control and timelapse capability.
