The song is outrageously corny and I'm embarrassed to kind of know it now, but it does make for an excellent beginner's karaoke song for learning Mandarin - the expressions are not normal dialogue, but one can learn individual vocabulary and take it from there - just make sure to drinnk, drink, drink an awful lot before singing - not to numb the nerves, but rather to numb the reality that you are actually singing "mei shi jian" in front of other people.
