The hand could not support the body. Nails were inflicted in the forearm.

The doubting Thomas story is both hilarious and infuriating - it's good to believe based on evidence, but even BETTER to believe WITHOUT or BEFORE evidence. What a completely fucking stupid and irresponsible thing to teach people.
Oh, I forgot - every religious person ignores this completely when it comes to claims about anything other than their god, so that's OK then. Phewf - I thought we were in trouble there.

@ahtaimo indeed. Even though technically they would be "wrist holes" since during crucifixtion the nails are placed between the bones of the wrist (radius and ulna). The "hands" are not strong enough to use since they would be far too fragile and hold up the weight of the body. In ancient times the term "hands" would have included the forearms (at least in Greek)

And the "heart tissue" is not still "alive" its preserved supposedly but has no signs of preservative chemicles. I had read about this particular miracle years ago when i was doing a psych paper and I chose to do a study on the psychology of hoaxes.

I was surprised to discover I had heard of this this particular "miracle" before. This fellow he spoke to was only partly right in that it was a miracle from 150 years ago. It was more like 1200 years. :)
The Miracle was alleged miracle occurred in Lanciano, Italy where the communion was supposedly transformed into actual flesh and blood, there have been studies done on it for like 500 years or so and they have made some pretty outlandish claims that I would seriously not put any stock in.

In other words, it's all in your imagination. I already knew that.

@leisulin Atheists are absolutely waiting waiting waiting, for their day of damnation and so on. There is no proof sufficient enough for an a theist to provide to an atheist because it's all based on our experiences with God. It's about a relationship with God, and if you never venture out of your little atheist corner to seek him then you will never be able to experience eternal salvation.

AHAHAHA! sticking your fingers through Jesus' hand holes!

@Mezmr1zed I guess that is true. Especially now that I am older, I just don't have room for "stupid" anymore.
I wish I could say the same about my teens and twenties... bleh.
