This is the first startup of the new 496ci stroker-engine I've built and put in my 1960 Chrysler NewYorker.

  • Nomasin,

The idle you hear in the clip is by far not how the engine sounded in real life. My camera lost about 70% of the soundquality of the engine. It sounds now like it's running a bit lousy, but it wasn't.

The longrams are original ones from 1960.

    Quakeromai,

HP isn't that high. I estimate around 450 hp. But the torque-curve is something different though.

The engine will be getting a roller cam soon. I hope to be able to put the car on a dyno after that.

  • Those have to be a bitch to tune. The acceleration a little slow?

  • Sounds great!! Nothing can touch a big block mopar with long rams!

  • They certinaly don't look factory.

I ahve a 64 300k with rams and I know there are MANY repos but none the less

    Great job

  • We ran this set up on a 383 and a 440. With dual thermoquads! Nothing pulls like this set up out of the hole! Long Rams are mean mothers!!!

  • I had a friend that had a early 60s 300 with an intake like that and carbs sitting over the inner fenders. I think it may have been a 413.

  • I put a .030 over 440 in a '62 Newport with the same set-up. It sure does move that big car pretty easily!

  • So... think that would fit into my 1978 Chrysler Cordoba by any chance? :D

  • Is this same as cross fire accept throlibody injector isted of carbs? i love the sound like tiger.

  • That admission! It's great!
