Pandora is a new handheld device the size of a Nintendo DS, but featuring some serious hardware (including game controls + a keyboard and a serious CPU.)

Sorry for the low video quality -- sleeping baby nearby :)
- no commentary
- no audio (devboard has no speakers, and I didn't jack in externals for fear of waking the baby)
- usb mouse and keyboard, since dev unit has no controls
- shaky cam since .. you try typing on a usb keyboard while holding a tiny but awesome camera

Performance:
- Pandora is very fast; EOB1 runs full speed no frameskip, and I've crippled DosBox in numerous ways..
- using normal core (not dynamic core) - both options are available on Panda
- you can see the Pandora desktop mode behind it, since I didn't set it to fullscreen; note that other apps are running in background
- advmame2 scaler used since game is natively 320x200, and I didn't invoke hardware scaling
- so we're talking software scaler, in windowed mode, without dynarec, while other apps are running.. and full speed. Yum.

Sorry for lack of commentary, again with the sleeping baby :)

This is a native "pnd file" version of dosbox..
- pop SD into Pandora
- Dosbox icon shows up on desktop
- tap the icon to run DosBox
- then I typed in "cd eob1" as you see, and so on.
- the .pnd-magic I didn't show, but if you like I cna show a brief video of that if ED etc don't first.

Vacation for a few days, so I may not be around much, hope this will satisfy some hunger despite the low quality!

  • Are you trying to make people puke? Try to hold the camera still. Nice one though.

  • Read the description, but yeah .. very small camera, using a dev pcb that has no case and not mounted to anythingm with a bunch of floppy bits, and a keyboard and mouse balanced on my lap. Not easy. I have no tripod for camera :)

  • They're referring to how heavy of an application you can run through DOSbox seeing as the last time the Pandora guys tried it it would barely open DOSbox itself.

  • I don't understand your question, but I'll try my best to answer it. * ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux * 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core * PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware * 800x480 4.3" 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD * Wifi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth & High Speed USB 2.0 Host * Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output * Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls * 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad * Around 10+ Hours battery life

  • Looks as if it is working fast; As of now, up to what requirements could be run on the Openpandora?

    Thanks for your work!

  • Nice, I loved this game :)
