Renoise 2.5 Step Sequencer, Controlled by the Novation Launch Pad.

NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD! See the link down there.

The videos are not very in sync but the sequencer is.

The song I made is quite basic but since the step sequencer is based on Renoise, you have full control on the duration, number of notes, which notes, which effects are applied on each steps/tracks! There are so many possibilities!

  • Are you using Automap? If so, is it necessary for full launchpad functionality?

  • @DarZaccaro no... and no.

  • Good work getting this integrated. Must have been a right task.

Like others, I feel that it has limited use, and this is really nothing that I can't achieve with a mouse.

Also, there are no labels on the actual device to tell me what patterns I am selecting; if this indeed to be marketed at the live performance guys, they would need some better visual feedback. If they have to stare into the laptop monitor, then back at the pad, it kind of defeats the object...

    Very good, all the same!

  • I have to disagree, I now jam with this device quite a lot and I don't need to look at the screen to use it, the scene launch button row indicates where the beat is and when you enter edit mode in another pattern, it's blinking green rather than solid red, that's visual feedback.

Of course you can do all that with the mouse, the point is to be able to do it faster (the mute unmute) because you don't use the mouse... it's just a way to be able to improv live with renoise.. I wish I had 16 steps.

  • Yeah, the scene launch button may indicate all that, but it doesn't have any connection with what is happening in the sequencer.

Would be nice to be able to somehow transfer the track names onto the device.

  • Oh yes.. but that's pretty much impossible, however I could have like 64 presets each linked to a pad and I load them by pressing another button first.. but i'd rather have endless possibilities by using the sequencer along with the computer.. it's actually very doable and not annoying at all to do.

  • Very cool, never seen this before. Love Renoise!

  • So you have pause command on renoise track and programming plays only a single line from the pattern.

  • I'm thinking of getting an akai apc20. Not sure how well it will integrate with renoise.

  • what is that like with the redrum computer?

  • The beat sounds angry.

Like an old man trying to send back soup at a deli.

  • @JBLanteigne

Thanks! In that case, I'm looking forward to using it with Renoise & Linux for live.

  • creativity killer

  • Cool. Thanks for the replies.

Not trying to be negative in any way; I just love discussing technology. You have done a superb job!
