Taser shot in Colorado Springs

Police shot this man with a Taser in Acacia park Saturday, July 12, while I was taping the IVAW Tower Guard action nearby. There had been a fight and 1 man arrested earlier and you can see the paramedics attending to a woman on the ground behind the police. She was involved in the earlier fight.

I don't know what happened, but 1 cop held him while the other shot him from about 3 feet, and they arrested him. He was not resisting and was talking to them, and had both arms behind his back at one point and the arrest and handcuffs could have been applied without the use of this weapon.

The waste-level attempted tackle from behind was poorly executed and did not pen his arms, so the cop could have been injured as a result. He could have also been shot with the Taser.

I don't know what the incident was about and I don't know what the guy did, but this is a punitive use of a Taser to me, and not needed by the 4 cops that could have arrested this man without that level of violence. It is certainly NOT minimum force, which is the department requirement.

A local TV station was interested enough to do an interview and report, BUT states incorrectly that I thought or knew the man was resisting. I said no such thing and posted this video because I do NOT see evidence that he was:

Clearly the video shows that he is not resisting and that's what the jury decided based on this video. When he is shot with the taser he has his hands held behind his back by the other cop, after the universal gesture or "what?"

He was acquitted of interfering on the basis of this video.

Sure it's better not the kill the guy, but are those really the only choices? How many cops does it take to arrest 1 skinny homeless kid, who stopped resisting?

The charges of interfering with EMS were dropped in court after the jury was played this video.

Actually he was charged with resisting and interference and acquitted on the latter. I filmed the "chickenshit" that assaulted the woman before a deputy showed up. I chased him around the building to make sure he didn't escape. I was, and still am an advocate for the victim and have all that tape, just haven't posted it. Maybe I'll post that since you are now interested in YouTube.

Stupid cops, they let the skinny cop hold onto the guy while three fat ass cops stand around and watch the struggle. There were enough of them to subdue this kid without a taser being fired. Looks like a combination of Officer laziness and incompetance in one video.

I don't know why everyone is so quick to point out wrongdoing by police officers. There may be more that was seen here, but it appeared to me that he was NOT going peacefully. He was clearly resisting the officers. Just look at how much trouble the two of them were having with him, when the one guy just says "fine, you won't cooperate, I'll taze you." Please...
