@Vapausorava Reverse the phase on the bottom mic is the easiest way. Mixer, interface, pre-amp, or recording software/device should have a button or switch for phase reverse.
Sometimes you can just adjust the mic distance from the head so that they are different. It doesn't take much. Usually about a 1-4 ratio. By that I mean that if your upper mic is 1" away you could move the bottom mic 4" away and it's just enough distance that it will stop the phase. It doesn't always work, but it's an easy fix in some situations.
@tc25d I'm interested in what your on about. It would be great if you posted a vid explaining exactly what that is.
I like this simple Vid. It will be a great help to people. I was looking for phase cancelation in drum tuning (how the top skin reacts with the bottom) very interesting.
Hey, does it matter which microphone you flip the phase on? Would you get a different sound if you phased one and not the other? If you could let me know that would be great thanks :)
Dude, you are one smart cookie. Now I would suggest taking the analog wave and converting it to a digital value, importing it into XL, perform the summation then replot the waveform in XL. Also, if you can do what you showed can you isolate the background resonant frequencies that are undesirable, create a counter waveform that is 180 degrees out of phase to cancel that junk? Rock on dude.
education vid :) thanks for the lesson!

Wow. That's quite a difference.

@Squirrel160990 You can still have some phase cancellation from any other downward pointing mic.

OnTime plugin from OnSoundGo analyzes time delay misalignment and shows you to compensate it.

So what is the best way to avoid phase cancellation? just giving each mic a different distance from the snare? or si there a better way?

@Bayinator Yeah but why only the bottom? What will happen if you set it to the top snare mic instead? Will it not have the same effect?

@Squirrel160990 hey! Only set the phase reversal on the bottom snare mic! Erik
