The next decade is mission critical time for manufacturers facing severe labor shortages due to mass retirements and rapidly changing job skills. Without addressing needs NOW, hundreds of thousands of jobs will go unfilled by 2021, leaving companies and our country in jeopardy.

Is your company prepared? Visit the Mission Critical: Workforce 2021 feature area, presented by Tooling U, an SME company, for a free readiness assessment. Experiment with advanced online training tools and gain access to experts who can help you start to explore existing and upcoming training and recruitment strategies. The days are long, but the years are short. Plan now and be the manufacturer with the skilled and motivated workforce needed to excel in the next decade and beyond.

Within the Mission Critical: Workforce 2021 area, a provoking timeline will show the changes in the manufacturing workforce as well as the changes to how that workforce has received training (i.e., the changing landscape of technology advances, changes in the way people learn, the baby boomers exiting the market, the change in how people work, etc.) The result will be a sweeping visual timeline covering from early 20th century to around 2021, an important year because of the number of baby boomers projected to leave the job market by that point. The goal of this area is to get companies, educators and individuals thinking about "are they ready" and "what are they doing to prepare themselves or their organizations" for this serious market changing issue. A free Workforce Readiness Assessment will be available for visitors to complete and gain ideas for their businesses.

  • I totally agree, , but our school system is not supporting vocational skills. In cut backs they have stopped shop classes.
