Jose Mari Chan's 'Manhattan Connection'
The Philippine Music Industry celebrates another definitive milestone as Janis Siegel of the American vocal music group The Manhattan Transfer and international musician and music producer Yaron Gershovsky teamup for a tribute CD titled The Manhattan Connection: The Songs of Jose Mari Chan.

This is the very first time that an all American group of musicians, arrangers, and performers did a musical tribute to a Filipino songwriter.

"I feel complimented and honored by this album which was produced by no less than a member of The Manhattan Transfer, Janis Siegel," says Jose Mari Chan. "We have not yet approached any of the radio stations, nor have we disseminated the tracks to them. We are hoping that a few of them would pick up a couple of songs from the album and put them on their playlist."

It is very apparent that Janis Siegel and Yaron Gershovsky exerted a lot of thought and did a lot of planning in giving a different twist to some of the immortal songs written and originally performed by Jose Mari Chan.

Siegel and Gershovsky requested for Jose Mari Chan's entire catalogue of songs and personally handpicked 11 songs which they re-arranged and produced.

These songs are "Constant Change" and "Stay, My Love" performed by Nic Bearde; "Like Night & Day" performed by Roger Treece and Lauren Kinhan; "Thank You, Love" performed by Julie Hardy and Janis Siegel; "I Have Found My World In You" and "Easier Said Than Done" performed by Kellylee Evans; "A Heart's Journey" performed by Leo Sidran; "Love Lost" by Lisa Fischer; "Walking In The Midnight" performed by Theo Bleckmann with a cappella intro by Janis Siegel and Laurel Masse; "So I'll Go" performed by Laurel Masse, Janis Siegel, and Lauren Kinhan; and "Spellbound" performed by Miles Griffith.

The CD also features a reprise of "Constant Change" as performed by Nic Bearde.As a singer and prolific songwriter whose songs were covered by other great artists from Celeste Legaspi to Sarah Geronimo, from Anthony Castelo to Christian Bautista, from the Apo Hiking Society to The CompanY, from Joey Albert to Lea Salonga, and from Martin Nievera to Jed Madela,

The Manhattan Connection: The Songs of Jose Mari Chan is truly another feat for Jose Mari Chan. The CD serves as an artistic vehicle that supports Jose Mari Chan as he moves further on in his colorful journey as a singer and songwriter.
