one of the best Bowie Tracks if not THEEE best.

Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth
You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette
The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, then you forget
Ohhh how how how, youre a rock n roll suicide

Youre too old to lose it, too young to choose it
And the clocks waits so patiently on your song
You walk past a cafe but you dont eat when youve lived too long
Oh, no, no, no, youre a rock n roll suicide

Chev brakes are snarling as you stumble across the road
But the day breaks instead so you hurry home
Dont let the sun blast your shadow
Dont let the milk float ride your mind
Youre so natural - religiously unkind

Oh no love! youre not alone
Youre watching yourself but youre too unfair
You got your head all tangled up but if I could only
Make you care
Oh no love! youre not alone
No matter what or who youve been
No matter when or where youve seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
Ive had my share, Ill help you with the pain
Youre not alone

Just turn on with me and youre not alone
Lets turn on with me and youre not alone (wonderful)
Lets turn on and be not alone (wonderful)
Gimme your hands cause youre wonderful (wonderful)
Gimme your hands cause youre wonderful (wonderful)
Oh gimme your hands.

  • @LadyMoonwitch I hate when people compare David Bowie to god. I mean, sure, he's good, but he's not David!!!

  • There's a kid at my school who recently killed himself because he was bullied to a point where he could no longer handle it. They found his body by the train tracks today. I feel incredibly bad that I never did anything when they were picking on him.

This song reminds me of how unnecessary suicide is. I think I play this song at my school's talent show in April, dedicating it to him.

    Rest in peace, Alex.

  • @redrover327 "unnecessary" - you've a long way to go before you can understand suicide.

  • oops ive just noticed a mistake in the lyrics i just c&p-ed

it should be "THEY're so natural, religiously unkind"

  • "Dont let the sun blast your shadow

Dont let the milk float ride your mind

Youre so natural - religiously unkind"

    Aren't they though?

  • Give me your hand, because you are wonderful.

  • @skwuballo copypaste

  • This was the very first album I bought. (ziggy stardust) It was just after it was released back in '73. I was 13 years old. Fantastic album

  • Id listen to this album driving from Bruxelles to my mums in the UK. I'd put my then 4 yo daughter in the back seat & set off at midnight. If I drove like the clappers I'd get to this track (last on the Ziggy album) just in time to arrive at Calais to then catch the train under the English Channel. Always put me in the right frame of mind just in case there was an emergency under the sea lol. Made me feel a lil invincible & not so alone after all, as my daughter slept on oblivious. Thanks David.

  • @redrover327 I was bullied to a similar extent. If I had not been pulled out of school by my family I probably wouldn't be here today. I'm a musician and I thank the universe everyday for giving me the ability to share my pain and joy with the world. Rock on Bowie, you rule.

  • I'm still waiting for time to take a cigarette and put in in my mouth. Then I'd pull on a finger and get another cigarette. That deal would save me so much money...
