Sonic 2 & Knuckles - The Knuckles Cripple Challenge

In the Emerald Hill Zone Act 1, I'm not allowed to press left or right (Down or up is allowed) and I have to finish the act in 3:00. No debug or Super form allowed which means I'll have to use Knuckles to get anywhere.

Well, as I was doing the challenge, I was trying to not even press up or down but I changed my mind and did so later on to spindash because I thought the loop-de-loops would take forever to get past.
