Former Democratic U.S. House Representative Dan Rostenkowski died at age 82 in his Wisconsin home on Wednesday. Rostenkowski is most remembered for his work with tax policy during the Reagan-Bush era. He pushed a reform bill to lower taxes and simplify the tax code in the 1980s. He also served as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which writes tax legislation.
Rostenkowski's political career came to a halt in 1994, when he was accused of mail and wire fraud. The democrat was convicted the following year for trading House Post Office postage for money. President Bill Clinton pardoned Rostenkowski in 2000.
