  • Hey man, what is the purpose of the styrophome?

  • @moneymarkj tanks with no edge need it to account for imbalances and imperfections.

  • Hi. Nice build. I'm currently looking at another set of plans that look extremely similar to this and I have one question. How did you attach the top and bottom box frames to you legs? I was thinking of using wood glue but curious as to what method you used to attach them?

Thanks for any info you can provide. Once again, excellent build.

  • @customcreazn Long deck screws coming up from the bottom

glue is ok, but I'd suggest screws and glue just to be sure.

  • @1mkwiet

Thanks for the advice. I was recommended some liquid nail also. Ima give that a go. Said it works better than the wood glue.

Appreciate it man! Again, Awesome job!

  • use some cleaner called stripper cleaner for the tile, by masterp! i brightens up your grout and tile like krazy, at any homedepot, awsome cheap product

  • ya, rim or plastic edge on the bottom. The normal framed tanks especially. What happens with a rim is that the foam pushes up when the tank is weighted with water and it creates pressure on the bottom center of the glass instead on the edges where it's strongest. can cause a crack in the bottom.

  • what do you mean by frame? like a rim or that plastic edging?

  • yes, but it's adviced that if you have no frame on the bottom of your tank to use foam under it. If you do have a frame then DO NOT use foam.
