After Senator Palantine murder attempt failed, Travis Bickle flees, returns to his apartment then drives to Alphabet City, where he shoots Sport (pimp) in the abdomen, after which he storms into the brothel and kills the bouncer. After the wounded Sport confronts Bickle, Bickle shoots him again fatally as well as Iris' mafioso customer. Bickle receives several shots himself. He then tries repeatedly to fire a bullet into his own head from under his chin, but all his weapons are empty, so he resigns himself to resting on a sofa until police arrive on the scene.

@mrhorn2001 if I remember right that color shift is from the censor. I think they said that on the DVD. The censor board muted the color because if they didn't the large amount of blood in the end would have pushed the rating to NC-17 or X. I don't know if the original color version has ever been released.

2. travis driving to the scene of the massacre in a mad rampage scorcese's color treatment began during the drive to the massacre.
travis looks totally out of his mind in the cab... on a kill mission.
