In the 17th century copper was discovered near Røros. The copper factory in Røros was active for 333 years before it closed in 1977. The company controlled mines, woods and even canals, all with one goal: the production of copper.
Officially designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, this site is to be safeguarded for the future as a testimony to its enduring past.
