I can see why he is EX-RAF, he has almost ruined that engine! He clearly has NO IDEA what he's doing, he allowed the engine to overheat during start up, it is likely it is permanently damaged!

I didn,t know the lead singer from ZZ TOP was into jet engines...you learn something new every day! (1.02 onwards)

The speed required to spin the turbine up even after ignition has to be 24v to 28v to get the engine spool and stabilize and overcome the drag of the acessories,that engine is producing almost 0 hp at idle so it must spin up at least 10% before lighting all the way to at least 35% to get a goog saft start.

nice one, hope this was a good lesson getting to know, that an aircraft engine with an electric starter/generator will not reach self sustaining speed with 12VDC instead of 28VDC. How long did he work on jet engines?

I would not know that answer and I am not a jet engine person myself. we filmed it several years ago
