This building once housed several diesel-powered electric generators that were used to power the the Distant Early Warning radar, water pumps, etc. The generators have long since been removed.

A Cold War relic, Mount Laguna Air Force Station is located atop Mount Laguna, with a steep drop into the Anza Borrego desert. It was a DEW (Distant Early Warning) site, watching for incoming missiles, and housed about 170 people until it was downsized in 1981. Now it is a multi-use satellite and radar communications site, operated primarily by the FAA, out of Los Angeles Center.

Beginning in 1952, the Mt. Laguna Air Force Station was home to the 751st Aircraft Control and Warning (AC&W) Squadron, later the 751st Radar Squadron, part of the Air Defense Command.

  • wow what's your thing with the lights stuff?

  • @AshiteratsuAka There's just something I like about the old industrial-style lights seen here. Would be cool to have some for my garage.

  • you could get so much money off that stuff

  • @TheDaniel121 Just about anything and everything of value has already been taken here. The control panels and all have been stripped apart inside, unfortunately.
