New Language App is Out of this World!

Talking Wizard have launched a brand new app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Designed by specialist Speech and Language Therapists, Splingo's Language Universe is a fun, dynamic game which capitalises on children's natural fascination with technology and games to help them develop the listening and language skills that are fundamental to learning.

•Provides the key foundation skills upon which both spoken and written language are built
•Is uniquely it is customisable to suit a range of ages and learning abilities (incl special needs)
•Has received high praise from parents, teachers and Speech and Language Therapists

•Level 1 -contains instructions of 1 main word and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 18 months onwards, e.g. "find the apple"
•Level 2 - contains instructions of 2 main words and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 2-3 years, e.g. "find the red apple"
•Level 3 - contains instructions of 3 main words and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 3- 4 years and upwards, e.g. "find the big red apple"
•Level 4 - contains instructions of 4 main words and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 4 years and upwards, e.g. "give the big red apple to the boy"

Splingo's Language Universe allows children to focus on specific word types; nouns (naming words), verbs (action words), prepositions (position words) and adjectives (describing words), and includes four different levels of difficulty:
Language comprehension is the basis of learning as the majority of education is delivered through verbal means. Understanding of verbal language is a necessary foundation skill upon which both spoken and written language are built. The instructions include vocabulary from US and UK early years reading lists, plus important language concepts such as size, colour, shape and positional language. The different levels provide examples of different types and complexities of sentences
