WAY back in the year 2005, My Uncle gave me a short lesson on the M1 Garand. Below is from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Garand)

The M1 Garand (officially the United States Rifle, Caliber .30, M1) was the first semi-automatic rifle to be generally issued to the infantry of any nation. Called "The Greatest Battle Implement Ever Devised" by General George S. Patton, the Garand officially replaced the bolt-action M1903 Springfield as the standard service rifle of the United States Armed Forces in 1936 and was subsequently replaced by the selective-fire M14 in 1957. However, the M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963 and to a lesser degree until 1966.

The M1 was used heavily by U.S. forces in World War II, the Korean War, and, to a limited extent, the Vietnam War. Most M1 rifles were issued to American Army and Marine troops, though many thousands were also lent or provided as foreign aid to America's allies. The Garand is still used by drill teams and military honor guards. It is also widely sought by the civilian population as a hunting rifle, target rifle, and military collectible. It is now available to civilians in the original .30-06 chambering, as well as in .308 Winchester.

  • @mskiUSMC. The guys overly cautious. I understand that safety is important but don't dwell on it. Sometimes you just need to get the fucking job done. You would think a marine would know this. Of course, theres a lot of dumbass military personell out there. Due to your previous statement I'm pretty sure your one of them. Good luck with the future there killer. Remember. Be safe.

  • @sureshot556 Safety is number ONE when you're showing a person who had never fired a firearm before. You make sure that person is safe, safe and safe. Up until then, I had not fired a gun. I totally appreciate the safety lesson here. Since this time, I now have a small collection of firearm of my own, and am NRA certified to teach pistol safety. So, when you are showing a newbie firearms, you can never be "overly cautious". Now a Marine, or Army, or Police, yes, get the job done

  • This guys paranoid. Toughen up and fire the weapon.

  • @sureshot556 If he were paranoid, then I suppose he'd be firing all over the place and not even give the safety lesson.

  • you sure this wasn't filmed in 1995? looks like VHS, other than that good vid

  • @TescoVee This was filmed in 2005 with an 8mm videotape on Sony handycam CCD-TRV67 (Hi 8 tapes). The connection to my old computer wasn't the best so you get that VHS look. Thanks for watching.

  • Why would Safety not be important? If you are flippant about safety with a firearm you are an idiot. It's like a car, the minute you disrespect it's ability to harm or kill a human being, that's when it will. Respect the weapon.

  • i love how everyone knows how to do something on youtube, but dont make videos about it.... but they are more then happy on how to comment on it

  • @razgriz76....agreed.

  • @sureshot556 No, safety is the number one thing of shooting....!!!! and to some fagwad pussy fart probably like yourself, youd have no idea of what the fuck to do... YOU WOULD PROBABLY have a negligent discharge and shoot your buddy! so fuck off, the title of the video is, "M1 Garand Shooting LESSON" you fucking retard! probably the wrong video if you want shooting. Fucking retard.

  • then try to imagine hundreds of screaming North Korean and Chinese communist troops chrging at you from the mountain
