A horse racing meeting at the Meadows Racecourse was delayed when three deer decided to get in on the action and run a few laps of the track much to the amusement of the commentators.

It was no ordinary horse racing meeting on Wednesday at the Meadows Racecourse when three deer charged onto the track and caused one of the races to be delayed.

While the three stags had delayed the race it did not stop the local announcers Roger Huston and Jeff Zidek from doing their job as they offered some comical relief for racing fans during the interruption.

Mr Huston gave the deer nicknames "Bambi" and "Rudolph" as they sprinted around the track.

The three fearless animals ran from one side of the track to the other and every time they looked like leaving the track they would spin around and run in the other direction.

Mr Huston said he realised the incident was being broadcasted live so he tried to keep the racing fans amused by seeing the funny side in what was going on.

"And it's Bambi in the lead, with Rudolph making a move," said Mr Huston.

After a couple of minutes the stags finally jumped over a fence and left the track with Mr Huston shouting "Go the deer."

So called horse racing is so cruel. Why do humans treat nonhuman animals this way?

Some hunt for food . Some hunt because it is a challenge . Some hunt because they want a reason to get out and enjoy the great outdoors . Some hunt because hunting enables them to feel the power of dominating a lesser creature with man made technology and wit . Some hunt because it is a social event , kind of like camping . I take pictures of them sometimes , and I wish them well . I've seen many of them and they have seen me . They are cool and they are quiet and they are peaceful .

yes I agree with your thinking there. I Also do not support the mass meat industry and don't really see how anyone could.
