At the Fall Leadership Conference on October 17th, Interact District 5170 reveals the Community Project and Hourly Goal for the 2010-2011 School Year.
Throughout the Bay Area, communities are inflicted with poverty and many families are forced to compromise their hunger in order to afford the necesities to live. However, Interact is here to help! Interact 5170 is the world's largest and most renown Interact district with over 90 clubs and 5,000 members stretching across northern California. In 2009-10, Interact 5170 contributed more than 50,000 of volunteer hours towards community service and raised $75,000 for END POLIO NOW. This year, Interact plans to achieve 100,000 volunteer hours and raise $50,000 for Shelter Box. Interact plans to help end the suffering of families that are in need of food and shelter, not only Internationally, but also in the Community. Our Community and International Projects tie in with this year's Rotary theme: Building Communities, Bridging Continents. Starring Ryan Wang, Community Service Coordinator (A6) and Kevin Gao(A13).
