Falun Dafa Day Celebrations

Today is World Falun Dafa Day. And to mark the occasion Falun Gong practitioners from around the world held celebrations to mark this important day on their calendar.

In Vienna, Austria, activities were held at Stephansplatz in the center of the city. There was an exercise demonstration as well as a photo display depicting the 16-year history of the practice.

And in New York City's Union Square there was a colorful sight to be seen. A dragon was dancing to and fro... and the bang of drums energized the crowd. Graceful dances displayed the kind demeanor of ancient Chinese traditions.

And finally... moving onto Moscow, Russia at the city's botanical garden. Banners reading Falun Gong's principles of "Zhen-Shan-Ren" which mean truthfulness, compassion and tolerance were strung all around. Some locals also came to learn the exercises.

Falun Dafa Day was started back in 1999 to show people what the practice is all about despite the persecution going on in the mainland.
