Special thank you to Angela for providing the information below!!!!

"DIASPORA
Smirni (was a Greek City in Turkey), Canada
AX!
you have left far away
I hurt!

One headed for Australia
the other very young boarded the ship
Turks and Greeks in Germany
(working) all day and night in the factories!
Building a new society

Diaspora
it was worth the crop
Yes!
My soul is moving
It makes more seeds!

One, washing dishes in Astoria(New York)
The other a captain on the ships
Greek young people neglected
build the ruins
They worked for you and I!

Turks and Greeks in Germany
(working) all day and night in the factories!
Building a new society

  • Fatema, one way to know who your good friends are

The above Fatema, are the most wonderful people!

Those are friends u want to have sister!

  • My dear Angela,

1- ~This video represents you, it's what I've seen and learned from you. The love you have for your country, your people and friends is what this video is all about. It has the power to reunite us all immigrant all over the world, no matter how far apart from each other.

  • 2 - I felt the chill the first time I heard this song not knowing the language but it didn't matter to me because I felt the pain coming out through her words and her powerful voice. The first person came to my mind was you my dear friend.

  • 3 - The singer actually reminded me of you and how you're always spoken so proudly of whom you are and where you came from. One of the many good quality you have is that, no matter how far and how long you've been away from your country, you never forgotten where you came from, and that's a god thing my dear friend. You are a special lady and deserve to be treated highly.

    Love you heaps!!!

    ~Fatima

  • To: Angela. A friend wishes you Health, strength and abundance. Be very proud of your Greek Heritage. For among all of Humanity, each Nation contributes something of merit. Be well. From one whom has never been to Greece but is from Great Turtle Island (America) and equally proud of my Ancestors! Stay in good Spirits, for we all are Relatives!!

  • I think its wonderful to dedicate a video to a friend. It not only tells the friend how much you care for them, you also give something personal from your heart to theirs. The video lets that person know you think of them and never forget them.

I love the video because thats what it is love.

    Andy

  • the newest diaspora are going to be us greek people, again. The economy here is too bad. Me and lots of people in my age (25), are going to leave Greece , for a better life. just the same did happen years ago at 60's.

  • this song just breaks my heart even though i dont understand what it says when im listening.. just so beautiful and sad... thank you for sharing

  • real favorite!

    Thanks again Fatema.

    Angela

  • such a beautiful place..

  • Great work good on you Bravo

  • most of what we see here, was given to Greece in 1913 by the european "superpowers"

  • Beautiful pairing of images and music.

I used to live in Queens (Astoria). Not too bad a place when you're young. When I've gone back, it seemed so ugly. Especially compared with Greece.

I've read that the young people of Iceland are the newest diaspora-- the economy is so stricken, they need to leave to find jobs.

  • For those who also want to know who the singer of this song is: Glykeria - Diaspora. Thanks to QueensPrincess08 she searched and we now know ! ;-))
