Here is a short video of the transmission equipment used for KANE FM's RSL in August 2004. It is being setup and tested prior to installation in the studio and at the transmission site. The air chain consisted of an Orban 222a spatial enhancer which was placed before the digital Optimod (8200). The composite signal from the 8200 was then fed into the SBS TX400 wideband link transmitter. The signal produced by this was then beamed up to RX400 receiver at the TX site on top of the Hogs Back in Guildford, Surrey. There the composite output from the receiver was looped through an SBS FMB10 RDS encoder and finally applied to the SBS FM30 transmitter. The stations output could be received on 107.3 MHz in stereo with full RDS. From the high antenna the signal was good for a 15-20 miles radius and quite usable well beyond thanks to the high modulation levels available from the digital Optimod. http://www.ci-limited.co.uk/
