The Piano Man - The film was produced by hand drawing a starting frame in charcoal and then any parts that needed to be animated were rubbed out and re-drawn. A photo was taken and the method was repeated, building up a series of shots. The charcoal ghost left from each movement gives an extra dimension to the shots and was a highly rewarding part of the filming process.
The Story
The city in the sky inhabits a world of peace and tranquillity, where the city folk speak a beautiful musical language. One fateful day, The Piano Man falls from the sky into the sea below. Being the only dark shadow cast over life on a cloud for the city dwellers, the constant fear that they may fall over the edge.
The Piano Man is washed ashore and is greeted by the Earth folk, who unfortunately do not accept people unfamiliar to them.
Follow The Piano Mans plight as he is hurled onto this foreign land and the turmoil his parents face on the realisation that their son might be gone forever.

Uclan Animation 2009
Wow! This is really impressive! I am particularly impressed with the consistency of the facial movements. The head turns and the features maintain their space and shape. Good work. What a fascinating method of animating. 5 Stars!
