P. P. Arnold - Angel of the morning 1967
(short version)

Maybe the sun's light will be dim
And it won't matter anyhow
If morning's echoes say we've sinned
Well it was what I wanted now
And if we're victims of the night
I won't be blinded by the light.

Just call me angel of the morning, angel
Just touch my cheek before you leave me baby
Just call me angel of the morning, angel
Then slowly turn away
I won't beg you to stay with me
Through the tears of the day
of the years baby

Just call me angel of the morning, angel
Just touch my cheek before you leave me baby
Just call me angel of the morning, angel
Just touch my cheek before you leave me darling

Just call me angel of the morning, baby

  • Now we have youtube, there's no need to listen to fakey, rotten contemporary vocalists, when we can enjoy talented performers on here. The sad drawback is that out in the world, they're playing horrible garbage in shops, restaurants, even in the street on mobile phones, and from car stereos with windows rolled down to share their bad taste. Even on public transport. Worst is if they play FM radio in your workplace all day- but we can always come home to Youtube

  • @keltyk Perfectly true. It's all loads of rubbish out there today, unhealthy, weak, fourth rate stuff. Such a decline, descent into mediocrity and ugliness!

  • I was in love with her back in the day! :) To me she was Dusty & Aretha all rolled into one! A beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. Great to hear her again.

  • AAaa

  • Voice of an angel

  • I find it astonishing that she wasn't a superstar, up there with the giants of the genre, alongside the likes of Dusty Springfield etc.

  • Wonderful...thanks for posting.

  • Absolutely awesome. I can't get enough of this woman's voice. On tour in the UK too I believe. Just astounded that 8 people found something in this to dislike.

  • My God!!!! Her Voice Is Sooo Beautiful! Where are singers like this nowadays!?!

  • This is the best version (likewise with First Cut is the Deepest). P.P. Arnold had such a mesmerizing voice!
