As what I suppose you could call an aspiring Celtic music harmonica player, I've been looking for an instrument with a sound as close to an accordion as a tremolo harmonica. What's the tuning/number of holes on the one you use here? Thanks.

This is a Seydel Fanfare Tremolo in the key of D. It has 12 holes. It's the same tuning as a 12 hole chromatic. This tuning is called, "Solo Tuning".

Hi James!
Pat and I are ringing in the new year by enjoying your videos. I think we might need to make this an annual tradition.
Great musicanship as always. You've got some wickedly wonderful turns between the phrases and and I have to say I enjoy your playing as much as I like Kevin Burke's, Johnny O'Leary's or Buddy Thomas's.
Happy New Year to you & your family.

Fantastic stuff, James, you never fail to impress.
For Irish music, do you think the note layout on this harmonica has serious advantages over the standard richter diatonic when it comes to chord playing and speed?
Cheers and a very Merry Christmas,
Joel.

Hi Joel,
Thanks! The note layout is that of a 12 hole chromatic so there's actually less of a chordal advantage than there is on a diatonic. As far as speed...if you can play fast on one harp, you can cook on all the harps!
Merry Xmas!
