It is such a beautiful and amazing process. It's incredible to watch how much time and care goes into the removal and conservation of each mural. It is so importportant to preserve these works of art. There needs to be more people like this taking such care into paintings. You guys do such amazing work!

@SaulBourgy Saul, I know exactly what you mean by feeling abhorred. I also would leave murals in the place they were created and I feel an ethical compelling need to do so. But, like you said, "saving art" sometimes means getting it out of the building. The last mural I inspected in Florida is in a building that is being demolished because it is so far overrun with black mold there is no way to save the building. So, before demolition gets started, the historical mural needs to come out.

@MaxLutzhf That was an interesting episode. You should have heard the reaction when they got the piece of mural in the mail... "We didn't know you could do that!" It turned the lay suit around for the artist... and I was the expert witness for Shell. But Shell was happy with my work as it helped to get the suit settled.

Scott conserved some very rare, large outdoor murals from 1936 at Fair Park, where he helped educate the public on their importance. This video is another excellent example of his contributions to his profession and to contractors, owner, architects and others who may be involved in the conservation of murals, by sharing his knowlege in such a clear and informative way.

@nancytmccoy Thanks Nancy. I enjoyed working with your firm on the enormous project with the City of Dallas. BTW, those of you reading this... Nancy McCoy's firm, Quimby McCoy Architects in Dallas, is an exceptional firm for architectural/historic preservation restoration, project oversight etc.
