Belcher Glacier: Time Lapse Camera E

This video was produced from a sequence of still frame images of a large lake on the lower section of the Belcher Glacier on Devon Island, Nunavut, Canada. The goal of this time lapse project is to monitor the evolution of the surface hydrology on the glacier. The video starts on May 3, 2007 and ends on July 11, 2007. Near the end of the sequence, the lake on the far side of the glacier begins to fill. Occasionally icebergs can be see moving in the bay at the glacier terminus (top left of the frame). This sequence comes to a premature end due to a malfunction with the time lapse controller, but we know from return visits to this location (April, August and October) that the lake does not drain until sometime after freeze-up.
