I think the first and second movements of Symphony No. 2 are the only weak ones that Mahler wrote. The substance of Mvt. 1 is not particularly distinguished, and the treatment attenuates it. It is also far too long for its content. . The Andante is flat and trite, to my mind (and I'm a big Mahler fan). Not even Bernstein can make this music convincing
However, the last half of the symphony is wonderful.

The english horn player was excellent. A lesser player would have seriously screwed up the movement. Great job!

at about 5:55 one of the trumpeters forgot to take out his mute XD

@hamletisastud Actually that's written in the score. Trumpets 2 & 3 remove mutes for measure 418 (when the Tam-tam hits).

@hamletisastud Unknown. Might be one out of frame since the symphony can use as many as 8.
