He was trying to stay alive. How could he just leave her now when they were now a family? He couldn't help but feel a tugging at his heart as he looked down at his sleeping beauty. He knew there would be no way for him to be with her, but all he could do was hope. If it wasn't for the hope of seeing the life he and Selena had made, he would have probably already passed. But he was fighting everything with in him to just see his little baby's face just once.

He couldn't help but wonder what type of man he was to leave the women he loved to mother their child alone. He knew she was strong enough to do it but he didn't want her to do it alone. She had her whole life ahead of her. A little part of him couldn't help but not want that baby that she was carrying. How could she get pregnant at such a time where he wasn't going to be around? Had god done this on purpose, showing him what he was going to miss when he finally left the world?

"Nick?" Snapping out of his thoughts he connected his eyes with the dark pools of chocolate he got lost in daily. "Yeah baby?" He felt her snuggling closer to her just wishing he could somehow freeze time. "Why aren't you asleep?" Bringing his lips down to hers, he took in her scent just wanting to remember this moment forever. "I'm not tried. Just go back to sleep baby I promise I'll be right here when you wake up."

Something inside her told her not to close her eyes and let sleep take over her. She felt it. Something horrible was going to happen; and it was coming soon. The ache in her heart couldn't go unnoticed as she tightened her hold on the one she loved so dearly. "No I want to stay up with you." Sighing he brushed the loose strands of her hair away from her face. "Please Sel, it might not be healthy for the baby for you to stay up at odd hours of the night."

"And its not doing you any better Nick, please." He knew he wouldn't be able to say no to her. He never could. "Alright."

They laid there in a comfortable silence just starring into the blackness of the room. "Nick?"

"Yeah?"

"I- I I am so glad I'm having this baby. Because this baby is forever going to be a piece of you and even though you might not be here to help me raise this baby I will tell this baby how incredible their father was. How strong he was fighting for his life."

He really didn't know how to respond to that he could feel the tears threatening to fall. So
it was official he wouldn't be here even if he moved heaven and earth.

"This wasn't how it was supposed to be Selena. We were supposed to have a family together. I was supposed to be there with you as we watched out children grow. We were supposed to grow old together!" His angry tears came rushing down as it dawned on him that all they hoped and dreamed would never happen.

"Everything happens for a reason. You are an incredible person Nick and I understand that God wants you closer to him to be with the angels." He couldn't believe that she was actually accepting his death. It was just making it all the more real.

"So what is it Selena? You know that I'm going to die! You're not even going to fight with me to save my life?!"

Tears sparked into her eyes as she saw the anger in his face. It wasn't what she meant and she couldn't believe he was actually insinuating that she didn't care.

"Nick no that's not what I meant. You have to understand that I'm coming t-"

"No Selena! You're giving up on me!"

"NO! Nick please no I was ju-"

"Leave." The tears were rushing down her face as she heard the word escaped his mouth.

"Please Nick no I don't want to go."

"Selena, I want you to leave."
