  • Yeah, it is great for all kinds of music, esp. Rockibilly. I got Nick Danger and the Murderlators there this summer and it was great. The Empire is awesome too; and the Asylum isn't too bad either. We do pretty well for a small city. As for away, I love the Paradise Club in Boston....

  • My problem with the Paradise is the Clearchannel (or LiveNation) connection. Too bad for such a good space.

Rockabilly et al. are served well down this-a-way by TT the Bears in Cambridge, Dodge St in Salem, and Ralph's & the Lucky Dog in Worcester.

  • I saw these guys in Portland, Maine at Geno's and they rocked it! Man, I hope they come back soon.....YEAH!

  • Geno's seems the place to be if you're in Portland!

  • I told my baby she could kiss my lips and she could hold my hand.

Step on my blue suede shoes and I would understand.

Crack me with a whip, tie me up, and beat me. I don't care.

There's only one thing that I can't bear: Don't Touch My Hair!

Sometimes I like to pump it up all full of grease and glue.

And other times I gotta let it down just to see if it grew.

Ya wanna be in my game? Ya gotta learn the rules. You better play fair.

Because in love and war all is NOT fair. Don't touch my hair!

  • Interesting to hear this cover by some relative young'ns. ;-) Sorry, but I still prefer the original version by The Wandells which I first heard in Indiana while using a fake I.D. at age 19 to follow the band. The Wandells eventually moved to, lived in, and were a fixture of the Boston area music scene for several years in the mid-80's 'til disbanding.

Al Wandell, Joey Wandell, Phil Wandell, (and late-joiner Eric Generic on sax) truly knew how to "Rock 'Em Dead"!

  • ive been friends w/t nick curran since his days with THE SIDEBURNERS...roughly 97' or so...he put on great shows at the FREE ST. TAVERNA,THE ASYLUM,THE SKINNY,GENO'S,GRITTY MCDUFFS,THE VENUE,RAOUL'S,ect...we started the FOUR ACES of portland together...but as for THE EMPIRE,that place is a fuckin' emo shit-hole....get better buddy,we all miss ya.
