"Gabriel's Oboe" from one of the greatest film scores written 'The Mission'. The sublime 'Gabriel's Oboe' is the most famous part of the score. Scored for solo oboe with string backing, it is quite simply breathtaking. What is astonishing is that Morricone created the theme by writing the music in time with how Jeremy Irons pretended to play on camera

@barriolimbas II could not agree more. Sarah Brightman disgraced the beauty of this piece by writing lyrics for it. Her lyrics (Nella Fantasia) make no sense when you see where how this piece fits into the movie. It is a shame that Ennio Morricone caved into her request when she begged him to allow her to add the lyrics.

i truely belirve if the piped this into the streets outside of clubs and bars at closing time, almost all fighting would cease. that s*** MOVED me... in fact, pipe it into G8, G20, EU, etc's meetings and i know you'd see a change.
