The Urban Art Contest, was key feature of J Marin's social media and social brand working approach and a significant grass roots and BTL component of the Valvoline pilot program . Sixty artist competed on a by invitation only contest for a chance to win a fully equipped brand new 2009 automobile.
On this project important personalities in the art community in the state of Jalisco including, Francisco Barreda, Director of the department of visual arts of the government of the state of Jalisco, Dante Medina, author, researcher, and art critic, and Javier Ramírez, researcher, curator and art critic participated by donating their time and by bringing the celebrity component to this important and innovative experimental and social marketing approach.
All murals are located in dense populated areas with high pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and they are close to, or on the various walls of the many participating auto parts shops and auto repair shops.
