A 10 min video showing our work in creating automated avatars in Second Life. The "AI" "brain" sits outside of SL so can also drive web based avatars (eg Sitepal), and avatars in other virtual worlds. Our goal is to create an autonomous avatar within Second Life, and other virtual worlds.

  • We have text to speech workin gon web versions, works in SL too but a 5 sec delay roughly. SpeechRec is still rough even on the web, so will let that mature a bit. The next version not only has Nickname type ability but also remembers you, what you takd about, where, and whether she likes you or not. Yes we'd love to do something more consumer orientated in due course, just a question of time and money - as always!

  • are any of these bots still in-world? I can't find any.

  • @XioJester Halo is undergoing a bit of an overhaul at the moment but is sometimes around and can be run up on request. Should be in 24/7 again from August, if not before.

  • Bots are available form us, but they are offered as part of a design & build package rather than off the shelf. Annual licence starts at £1000pa, £500pa for academic use. Contact us at Daden for more info.

  • how do i make my avatar automated to talk to people

  • i remember back in late 08 or very early 09 i met a bot, and what ever i said to him he answered straight as i said something, was so weird and cool, i asked for lindens and he said what you need em for, sl was so much better back then

  • and lastly what plans do you have making something like this available for the average consumer rather than a buisiness? (I.e. I can see this as ideal progression of the babies that people have, have a NPC child avatar they can take care of and raise)

  • looked this up again reading your recent blog post about incorporating motivation and maslow's hierarchy, got a couple of questions, 1) are you planning on incorporating speech function? (i.e. a text to speech and a voice recognition?) 2) are you planning on incorporating a way that she can associate a nickname with an avatar (so she's not calling you by your full name all the time)

  • @dadenmedia nice, I'm looking forward to getting to see this first hand!
