is poplar wood good?

well.........they use it very rarely in guitars but it is not the best quality wood by far the only guitar i know that uses it is a telecaster and like i said they are hard to find(i just used poplar because it was cheep)

to get the two layers, do you just glue and clamp the layers together?

yeah and it works great! its really easy to do and ends up looking really awesome!

I am making myself a single neck guitar as well, was gonnna make a double one like you but then I ran out of wood O.o (using my old bed now) :L

@94guitar08 actually poplar is a popular wood for guitars. danelectro used poplar for necks. parker has a signature vernon reid model that is all poplar, body and neck. poplar has similar tone characteristics to alder.
