In lieu of spending hundreds of dollars on a professional drum machine, I decided to construct my own harsh noise version of the same for under $25.00. I went to one of our area's thrift stores and

purchased a power saw and an old, two drawer file cabinet. The total cost was just under $22.00. Once home, I hooked both of my Zombie distortion pedals to my Fender amp and placed the saw in the

bottom drawer of the cabinet. I then put my microphone in the cabinet's top drawer along with an old radio set to static. After setting the amp, pedals and radio to full volume, I then plugged everything into a

surge protector. Once everything was set to go, I turned the surge protector on and blew the wax right out of my freaking ears! Smile The hissing of the amp and pedals themselves, the scratching of the radio and

the high pitched/amplified grinding of the power saw combined to form a harsh noise din that will sound great if/when I ever get a live gig.
