@evanescence0403 the dam does effect pompton lakes..i live there and durring hurricane irene i had to evacuate at 530 in the morning. they let the water build up on 1 side of the dam n then they open the gates and water rushes in2 pompton..thts why we had several houses collapse

@sbsidlov not where I live though. Its not this dam that affects the majority of the houses on Ringwood Ave.

this dam doesnt affect pompton lakes though. I live with my dad in pompton and with my mom, just up the street past the CVS there.. it was really bad.

@evanescence0403 Sorry you're incorrect. This dam has an effect on all of Pompton Lakes below it, that's the entire section from Mathes Dr right through to Riverside as it overflows the river behind all of the businesses on Hamburg Tpk. The dam releases more water per minute than can be passed through the river downstream, causing flooding all the way to Little Falls, while keeping Oakland's Venice section almost bone dry.
