a song by William Millar

I used to sing to my bairn too when they were wee.
Aparently the song was written by a Mr. Robert Coltard (died 1890) as an advertising jingle for an aniseed-flavoured sweet, manufactured in Melrose

Ahhh...fond memories of Jimmy when he played with Chas McDevitt's Skiffle, and of Robin singing to hushed audiences at the London Hootnannys, 'way back in the early 60s

My Da sung me this when I was a wee boy. I sang it to my daughter now 22 my son 7 and now my wee Molly 10months old. It is a timeless tune and always sends the bairns off to sleep.
