Also, (and you may have found this, I haven't seen the whole video yet), you know that statue in the middle of the Hall of Stairs is a level entrance, right? In the NES/Game Boy versions, that's how you get into the secret 'Pugsley's Den' - which, on Genesis/SNES, was a hidden door in the lower left corner.
