The Music Weaver (Sandy Denny)

I'm a long way from you,
I'm a long way from home.
And who cares for the feeling
Of being alone.
The notes and the words
They will always unfold
And I'm left with a manuscript
That will grow old
And the secret's all told anyway.

So the song it is yours,
And the song it is mine.
And a cold wind it blows
Through good fortunes of time.
The hobo he leaves
When the going is bad
And the music he weaves
Is so gentle and sad.
But freedom he has anyway.

  • More,please more.

  • sort of reminds of me of after the gold rush by neil young. Very spiritual..

  • Love this :) I kinda knew of Sandy from her duet with Plant on "Evermore",but have begun to check out her songs on here. WOW WOW WOW!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!! This song (and many of her others) are a good tonic for me seeking gentle quiet music :)

  • The most beautiful, emotive vocal performances from a woman ever came from Sandy, she was and is the best.

  • Waiting to be re-discovered. Very happy to know that NPR acknowledged her gifts. Her voice is so natural and unearthly beautiful at the same time.

She is the one and only, the incomparable.

  • @Wheelie55 Me too!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My fav all time singer. Need say no more.

  • I was unaware of her works until NPR did a segment on her life and music. I am thankful for YouTube so I can learn more about her music....

  • @rosesredvioletsblue Hello I think I spoke to you some 2 years ago about our mutual admiration for Sandy and her music.

I am unable to contact you as you have a "friend only" lock to your profile site.

  • When I heard about her death way back in 78 i played this and It moved me to tears. 30 yrs on it can still have that effect. She was such a monumental talent. She was in the forefront wiyh Joni Mitvhell and Laura Nyro. All three were blazing a new trail. Women in music just did not write, perform and record their own material for the most part back in the sixties
