I think the chicken costumes the libs are wearing are very apropriate. After all, they're afraid to face life without the government to fall back on. Let's face it. Life is just too difficult for a liberal to face without drugs or government intervention. they usually prefer both.

@RURIGHT I don't deny that the system has abuses, but tremendous harm would be done to millions of people wouldn't survive if all social programs were done away with . I am retired with a very small SS check ,I workedhard to earn that check just like most people .I would never be able to afford health care without Medicare neither would I be able to survive without many of the other programs that help me .Tea Party candidates seem to be suggesting that we all just die and save them a dollar .

@quirky1944 At 60 I and a Vietnam vet I know and have seen much in these years! People need help at times in their life but when the help becomes a way of life and the consequences of these programs cause more harm than good then it needs to be addressed! The ratio of single parents raising children in the black community alone went from 12% in 1960 to over 74% in 2010.

Do you know why these programs were put into law that ? I will tell you why it is because neighbors ,families and churches couldn't or wouldn't help those who had families and lost jobs and the elderly, many were dying from lack of health care or starvation. Without these programs the poor wouldn't survive with the high cost of living & low wages.
