Besides, I would add simple vertical scan on one DC motor, step-motor or galvo. It relied on slow move from top to bottom and with return with speed adjusted with microcontroller or ordinary adjusted resistor.

Would love to if i could but basicly the whole thing was built around a frequency generator. This is run through an amp powering the speaker which gives the flat scan horizontal sweep.
The next step was a custom built modulator. This takes an audio input and is run through a voltage comparator. The output controlls a FET which runs the power to the laser diode giving a fast pulsed beam.
That is the theory behind it all.

Yes it is horizontal scan only.
The system I built modulates the laser diode to a music input with variable trigger and high/ low frequency set points. The scan size and frequency is also variable giving a range of different effects.
In real life- it looks a million times better than the video, and am impressed with the result.
