Quarter of a million pound 700bhp race spec porsche GT2-R (as demoed by 911experience) comes past me at snetterton at 125mph+. The caterhams ~500bhp/ton, 0-100mph in 8 secs spec is testament to just how mindbogglingly quick in a straight line the race GT2 is.

  • truth is we are both going appalingly slowly....

its a trackday after all though and i dont know about him but i certainly wouldnt consdier myself a racing driver, let alone a quick one

  • That actual car does race and it qualified at 1.10 at the same circuit this year but to be honest thats prolly a novice driver. I would expect it to be well inside 1.10. Still, 4 seconds or so isn't a bad penalty considering the little kit car costs one eigth of the price and prolly 8 times cheaper to run !

  • The GT2-R driver was taking it very easy in the corners giving fast ride laps to corporate clients. In a race, a 230bhp race caterham on slicks would run around 1.13 but a race GT2-R is just mental quick, it has huge power but also is quite light for a tintop and also its huge tyres, full on race suspension and huge dics/calipers negate any weight advantage that the caterham may have had.

  • that porsche passed the caterham like it was stuck in 2nd.lol

  • How did you put the gauges in the video?

  • This video is way to short, would have been nice just to see(and listen(Homer donut druelling sound))to that magic Caterham. Great trip round the track, thanks.

  • Caterham driver was giving a fair bit away in spots - he'd admit as much himself, and of course, it wasn't a race. I'd expect that the Caterham could nip a bit more aggressively at the GT2's wheels in other hands.

  • nice vid!

  • Excellent! Great video, thanks for sharing. Do you know how your lap times compared to the GT2? The Caterham appears much better on the brakes and in quick transitions so I'm curious how they compare in lap times.
