@peminatbolaklate Just because she uses the word Allah means she has to conform to Islam as an institution? Perhaps she appreciates the metaphysical and spiritual aspects of Islam and leaves out the fundamentalist constraints it makes on the individual. In fact, Islam used to be quite progressive of a religion(read Rumi). The word Allah, God, or Yahweh belongs to everyone, within their soul. So I think she can say whatever she wants, just because she got naked doesn't mean anything...

@peminatbolaklate First of all it's temporary body art inspired by the surrealist movie "The Holy Mountain", one of the characters is a painted lady who wears religious symbols on her body. This is to symbolize that we are all one. I remember it because it was a promo pic for her last album. Anybody who follows Badu knows she's big on spirituality and consciousness. Being knowingly offensive isn't what she's about.

I'm glad Erykah Badu is now popular among Malaysians. I had always tried to promote her among forum members on internet, but it's never a success. Now, Erykah Badu is more popular than ever in Malaysia. It's called a 'hikmah' - it's a blessing in disguise. :)

@peminatbolaklate See now this is exactly what I'm talking about. You are taking a fundamentalist approach to Islam which is the most "mainstream." Islam is like christianity in the way that there are different interpretations of what it means to be Muslim. Some choose to follow the Quran to the dot on text. But for all we know, Erykah might just be influenced by Allah and not truely practicing mainstream Islam. The fact of the matter is that we don't know. Assuming is ignorance.
